I am a mom to a 2-year-old daughter who has had her fair share of challenges developmentally and medically as a premie. Being a parent to her has helped me be even more empathetic and understanding of the challenges kids and parents face day in and day out to handle life’s stress and to adapt to change and difficult times. It’s such a privilege to be a pediatric psychologist and work with patients and their families who trust me to help them work through some of the most difficult and challenging experiences they are facing and to help them on their journey to emotional wellness and to improve quality of life. The hardest part about being a working parent is time away from my family. When I’m not at work, I soak up every minute I have to spend with my husband and our daughter! But I also work hard to find time for myself, too. My most frequent advice to parents is that you have to take care of yourself to be the best parent you can be! I am a pediatric psychologist at St Louis Children’s Hospital. I specialize in treating children and adolescents with acute or chronic medical conditions. My current practice is focused on helping patients and families deal with chronic pain, obesity, feeding difficulties, and sports injuries, as well as anxiety, depression, and adherence problems related to a medical problem.
